Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 29, 2026

USPHS-Policy is an independent project and is not affiliated with the Department of Health and Human Services or the U.S. Public Health Service. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

  • Account data: your email address and authentication credentials, managed through our identity provider.
  • Usage data: the questions you ask and the answers returned, retained so you can revisit your history and so we can improve retrieval quality.
  • Billing data: handled by our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.

Policy source material

The Commissioned Corps Instructions and Personnel Manuals indexed by this service are public documents published at dcp.psc.gov. We store copies and derived search indexes to answer your questions; we do not claim ownership of that material.

Third-party processors

We share the minimum data necessary with the providers that run the service:

  • Hosting and database for application data, protected by row-level security.
  • Payment processing for subscriptions and trials.
  • Language-model providers to generate answers. By default we send your question and the retrieved passages to our configured model. If you bring your own key (BYOK), requests go to your chosen provider under your account and terms.

Your BYOK keys

If you supply your own model provider key, it is stored to make requests on your behalf and is never shown back to other users. You can remove it from your account at any time.

Data retention and deletion

We retain account and usage data for as long as your account is active. Request deletion of your account and associated history at any time by contacting us.
